About the Artist

Art from the Heart.
Lize Helsen is a Belgian visual artist and photographer whose work explores the meeting points between nature, femininity, light and the human experience.
At the heart of her practice lies Heartcore: the belief that art, knowledge and understanding emerge not only from what we know, but from what we feel, experience and remain curious about. Her approach is deeply informed by Erotic Intelligence; a way of engaging with life through curiosity, presence, sensation and the courage to explore beyond what is already known.
Her artistic practice began with a fascination for the relationship between women and their natural surroundings. Through The Woman of All Things Wild, she explored the feminine as an intrinsic part of nature — untamed, embodied and deeply connected to the world around us.
Over time, this exploration expanded beyond the human figure. Nature itself became a subject of endless discovery: its textures, colours, intricate forms and ever-changing light. From intimate landscapes to the delicate details of flowers, Lize approaches the natural world not merely as something to observe, but as something to experience.
Her work is grounded in a sensitivity to the human body, presence and connection. A background in human development and sexuality continues to inform the way she sees the world, while leaving space for ambiguity, intuition and the many truths that can coexist.
Light holds a particularly personal place in her practice. Through experiences of love, loss and transformation, she has come to see light not simply as a photographic element, but as a language of its own — one capable of revealing, concealing and transforming what we see.
Today, her evolving body of work, ALL THINGS WILD, encompasses different explorations of the natural world and our place within it. Through series such as Inner Landscapes, Rooted and Iridescence, she investigates the relationships between body and landscape, matter and light, the tangible and the ephemeral.
Currently creating from the volcanic landscapes and tropical light of Réunion Island, Lize continues to explore how a place can shape the way we see, feel and create.
She photographs in the real world, working with natural light and the unexpected moments that unfold before her. Rather than reconstructing nature, she seeks to reveal the extraordinary within what already exists.
Her work is an invitation to look closer, feel more deeply and rediscover the wildness that connects us to life.
My life unfolds as a journey, ever evolving. What I live, I bring into my work and what I offer in my work, I practice in my life. Both are rooted in a deep devotion to feminine wholeness.
About Lize
A Life from curiosity.
Hi! I’m Lize. An artist, a woman, a mother, a curious soul and a lover of life. So much more… and, at the same time, so much less than all those words.
Above all, I am simply myself. Always becoming, always discovering, never quite finished.
My life has taken me across countries and cultures, through studies, encounters, relationships, motherhood and moments of profound transformation. Each place has invited me to look again, to question what I thought I knew, and to discover who I am in relation to a world so much larger than myself.
These experiences have shaped the way I see people, nature and life itself. They have taught me that my truth is not the truth, that there are many ways of being human, and that curiosity caries the power to open doors.
In 2012, I graduated in sexology from KU Leuven, Belgium. My work and research as a therapist around intimacy, sexuality, relationships and Erotic Intelligence deepened my fascination with what makes us feel alive: our capacity to sense, connect, create, desire, wonder and remain open to the unknown.
Over time, this curiosity found another language in art.
Photography became a way of looking beyond the obvious. Of noticing what is usually overlooked. Of exploring the relationship between light and darkness, the human body and the natural world, the visible and the intangible.
At the heart of it all lies Heartcore; a way of living and creating from the heart. For me, knowledge does not live in the mind alone. It also emerges through experience, sensation, intuition, connection and the willingness to keep asking questions.
Today, life on Réunion Island offers a new landscape for this ongoing exploration. Its volcanic earth, tropical light, ocean and extraordinary natural diversity invite me to see familiar things differently, to experiment, and to follow the work wherever it leads.
I am still the woman who loves to travel, learn, laugh, explore and feel deeply. The mother who finds wonder in watching life unfold. The curious human being who would rather keep discovering than arrive at a final answer.
I guess this is what connects everything I do: a desire to meet life as it is, with an open heart and an open mind.
All Things Wild is one expression of that journey.
An invitation to look closer, to stay curious, and to remain open to all that life can become.
Always exploring. Always becoming.
